Trendz Autumn 2024: renewal, hustle and bustle, and inspiration despite challenging times

During the autumn edition of Trendz on 25, 26 and 27 August 2024 at Evenementenhal Gorinchem, the Netherlands, there was plenty to do for thousands of retailers. With five hotspots for inspiration, 185 participants and more than 300 brands, the trade event was all about creativity and innovation. ‘Although the atmosphere was convivial and there were long queues at the opening, visitor numbers were slightly lower due to the headwinds in the retail sector,’ says Mascha de Bruin, Head of Cluster Retail & Interior aan.

Trendz is an important “moment” where the industry comes together to discover and purchase the latest innovations. With a varied range of brands and inspiring hotspots, the fair is a valuable platform for anyone active in home décor and lifestyle retail.

This autumn, various designers presented unique products, including Laura from Atelier LVDW, Jasmijn Muskens, Marleen van Griethuijsen, Sanne Kaal, Saudade Collective, Studio Floris Meijer, Studio Juyoung Jung, Studio Madeleine Scholtes and Sven Jansse.

The six leading parties in the floristry sector, Koninklijke VBW, Plantion, Groothandelscentrum Plantion, Jodeco Glass, Smithers-Oasis and Bloem&Blad, joined forces and provided three days of excitement and inspiration with “Bloemkracht 6”. Anet van Haaster, Anna Hutten, Arne Lubbers, Cadeau Pakje In, Christine Boland, Jan de Koning and Mrs e-commerce shared their tips and tricks on various stages. In addition, TopInterieurOntwerpers presented a revamped Trend Presentation featuring the trends Dreamy, Joy and Cosy.

Mascha: “Various exhibitors who have been attending Trendz for years had their best Monday ever. The number of visitors ended up just under 6,000. We are living in difficult times, and we are all feeling the effects. Consumers are thinking twice before making impulse purchases or buying new products. Retailers have been affected for months by consumers keeping a tight grip on their purse strings, which translates into lower order volumes and fewer investments.”

However, we are looking forward to the spring edition on 12, 13 and 14 January 2025 at Evenementenhal Gorinchem with great enthusiasm and confidence. Many participants will be returning, and plans have already been discussed with various partners. With Trendz, we are taking the next step.

Starting with the upcoming spring edition, the upper floor will be given a completely new look and feel, without carpet tiles and uniform wooden stand construction. A great step for the future, with plenty of space for gifts and concept stores, according to de Bruin.

Trendz Spring 2025 is open to visitors on Sunday 12 January from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Monday 13 January from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Tuesday 14 January from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Evenementenhal Gorinchem, the Netherlands.
