– Perfume is genderless – Cologne is not for men, but an indicator that the concentration in the perfume is lower approx. 2-4%, whereas an Eau de parfum contains 15-25% oil/absolute in the formula. In addition, a “men’s fragrance” will always end up smelling sweet on a woman due to estrogen and vice versa if men use a “women’s fragrance” – it is precisely for this reason that the unisex section is growing.

– Almost no perfumes consist of just one single flower – they are often cleverly designed to put one flower in focus. In reality, ‘single note’ or ‘Soli fleur’ fragrances can contain up to 200 different ingredients.

– Many flowers do not actually smell of anything, or the flower is so volatile/sensitive that the oil cannot be successfully extracted – it could be flowers like Cherry Blossom, Orchid, Lily of the Valley, Violet, Freesia, Peony, Dahlia, etc. etc. – if these scents ”exist”, then it is a chemist who has defined/designed the scent of the flower.

– a perfume is only “safe” if you can see what the word ‘Perfume’ covers in the declaration. Many synthetic molecules have been on the market for such a short time, that we do not yet know what the consequences of the molecule are for our water and body.

– Several natural perfumes that claim naturalness/ecology/ecocert may consist mainly of organic alcohol to achieve the necessary natural percentage. The perfume itself, which is the low percentage, may be synthetic.

– Perfumes can actually smell differently from person to person depending on several factors: e.g. gender, skin pH, hormone levels, age, climate, scent inheritance, medication, diet, etc.

– Perfume evaporates faster on dry skin. True – if you have dry skin, it is recommended to use solid perfume. In addition, the use of base notes (the larger molecules) will be crucial for the duration of the perfume.
